Wakayama: Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida was evacuated safely after someone threw an explosive device in his direction while he was campaigning in western Japan’s Wakayama on Saturday.
According to local reports, a pipe-like object was thrown near the Japanese Prime Minister during an outdoor speech in Wakayama.

Reportedly, Kishida was visiting the Saikazaki port in Wakayama prefecture to cheer his ruling party’s candidate in a local election. There was an explosion just before he was to begin his speech.
One man believed to be a suspect was held by the authorities at the scene as footage showed several uniformed and plainclothes police officers gathered around the man and pressing him to the ground.
