These comments were made at the Asian American Heritage month celebrations. May has been declared to celebrate and recognize the contributions of the Asian community including Indians who form a major part of the immigrant community.
Every month is normally dedicated to celebrating the contributions of various communities to the development of the US. For example, the month of February was dedicated to celebrating the contributions of Afro-Americans and the month of November to the Native Americans.
The US President had visited India in the month of February and had visited Gujarat, Agra, and New Delhi.
The signing of important defence deals was the highlight of the visit.
