IIT Bombay Canteen Employee Arrested For Peeping Into Women’s Bathroom

Mumbai: A 22-year-old employee at IIT Bombay hostel canteen was arrested on Sunday after he was caught peeping into a bathroom.

Police confirmed and added they were ascertaining allegations of women students that the accused also shot their videos.

the case is registered under section 354 of IPC. He will be presented in court tomorrow and the Investigations are underway.

A student raised the alarm when they saw the employee peeping into the bathroom through window slits. On Sunday, staff members were present on the hostel grounds but the canteen was closed due to pest control.

According to a statement from IIT Bombay students, some of the hostel’s wing’s toilets had windows that look out onto a platform-like area with pipes coming from the ground floor.

The IIT Bombay spokesperson officially said that an attempt to violate personal space of women residents of hostel was done by an employee of canteen, by climbing a pipe duct. The spokesperson also said the institute is unaware of any footage being found on the phones confiscated from the accused.

The incident came to light amid protests on the Chandigarh University campus in Mohali over the alleged viral objectionable videos.
