Hyderabad Rape Case: BJP MLA Booked For Revealing Victim’s Identity

Hyderabad: Raghunandan Rao, MLA from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been booked by the Hyderabad police for allegedly revealing the identity of the 17-year-old victim of the gang rape case in Jubilee Hills.

The minister has been booked under 228A (disclosure of the identity of the victim) of the Indian Penal Code for allegedly releasing the videos and photos of the minor victim in the case.

The FIR copy revealed that the Minister conducted a press conference at the BJP state office, relating to the rape case where he revealed her identity to the media while the said investigation is in progress.

Rao was further charged with interfering in the administration of justice and character assassination of the victim and “may have caused the minor victim colossal distress”.
