Honda Accord to ditch V6 for turbocharged petrol engine

Date:

Ahead of its global release later this year, Honda has released some tantalizing details about the tenth generation Honda Accord.

Honda will be ditching the traditional V6 engine that has featured in past Accords and will instead receive the 2.0 litre turbo-petrol engine that powers the Civic Type R. The 2.0 litre engine will power the highest trim Accord while Honda has also stated that a 1.5 litre turbocharged, four-cylinder engine will be available as an entry-level option. A hybrid variant will also be made available, which, according to Honda, has been refined over previous generations. A choice of gearboxes will also be offered and will include a six-speed manual transmission and a new ten-speed automatic gearbox.

While the next-gen model is expected to go on sale internationally by the end of the year, there is yet no news on an India launch with Honda only having launched the current Accord last year for the Indian market.
