Harshvardhan Kapoor as ‘Bhavesh Joshi Superhero’ looks intriguing in the trailer

Date:

Harshvardhan Kapoor unveiled the first trailer of his upcoming film, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero where he plays a superhero minus any superpowers. Well, our desi superhero won’t let lack of superpowers come in his way though.

Bhavesh Joshi Superhero also feature a slacker who decides to don tights and fight crime. A scene at the beginning of the trailer in which the three friends talk about superheroes and comic books is very similar to the one in Kick-Ass, in which Aaron Taylor Johnson’s Dave Lizewski wonders why more people don’t become superheroes in real life.

Watch the trailer here:

There are also similarities in the scenes that depict Bhavesh’s earliest attempts at superheroics – he wears a makeshift mask, confronts wrongdoers, but soon realises that he is out of his depth. And like Kick-Ass, it takes the death of a loved one to push him over the edge.

Directed by Vikramditya Motwane, the film soon delves into meting out vigilante justice. As villain, we have the cliched politician who tells the pubic, “Ye Mumbai ko, Bharat Mata ko maarne aaya hai!” Are you reminded of Emraan Hashmi, Sanjay Dutt-starrer Ungli?

Vikramaditya said, “The idea basically started from the frustration of living in our country. We all love India but there are times when you just feel like – though it is not the right thing – you just feel ‘ek thappad mar do’. That’s where the idea of vigilantism came from.”

Earlier in the day, Anil shared a new poster from the film that shows Harshvardhan’s face. “Meet the man behind the mask! #BhaveshJoshiSuperhero will be unveiled soon! Trailer out at 1.30pm! @HarshKapoor_”

Bhavesh Joshi Superhero will be Harshvardhan’s second film after his debut, Mirzya. The film is slated to release on May 25.
