Gurugram Police Arrests Two In Connection To Cabbie’s Murder

Gurugram: The police arrested two people for allegedly murdering a cab driver near the Pataudi area.

According to reports, the suspects are identified as Hitesh, 23, and Pankaj Singh, 25. Both Pankaj and Hitesh booked a cab on March 24 from Behror in Rajasthan. They allegedly shot the cab driver before fleeing with his car.

Preet Pal Sangwan, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) said that the cab driver Rakesh Gujjar was found dead in Alwar’s Behror area. He further added that the victim was shot in the head and his mobile phone was missing.

Pankaj Singh was nabbed from Mumbai on Monday while Hitesh was arrested from Pataudi on September 13.

Sangwan said, “The suspects booked a cab for Delhi with the intention to steal it and flee to a hill station. They boarded the cab and asked the driver to take the Dharuhera route to Pataudi.”

Talking about the details of the incident he added that Hitesh tried to take control of the vehicle when they reached Pataudi. The cab driver resisted after which Pankaj shot him in the head. They further threw the body out and left towards Nuh.

The police further added that the suspects ran out of fuel near Nuh and abandoned the vehicle. They further tried to rob another car in the area but were unsuccessful.

According to PTI, Gurjar’s brother had filed a complaint with the police stating that the deceased had bought a new Maruti Eeco in February. Before his murder, Gurjar had told his family that he was taking a booking.
