France and Germany to return to F1 2018 season

Date:

The FIA World Motor Sport Council has announced that the French and German races will return to the Formula One calendar in 2018. The 2018 season will feature 21 races, with the season kicking off on March 25 in Australia and ending on November 25 in Abu Dhabi.

The return of the Grosser Preis von Deutschland and the Grand Prix de France show Liberty Media’s, Formula One’s new holding company, commitment to featuring historic races on the F1 calendar. The German Grand Prix had been dropped for the 2017 season following financial issues faced by the owners of the two German circuits that have hosted Formula One races. The French Grand Prix, on the other hand, has not featured on the F1 calendar since 2008.

The German Grand Prix will be held at the Hockenheim circuit while the French Grand Prix will be held at the Paul Ricard circuit, which had last held an F1 race in 1990.
