Fact check: Don’t believe this news of a Jamia student dying during protests; it’s fake

Following the violent protests at Jamia Millia Islamia University on December 15, 2019, over Citizenship Amendment Act, a picture of an injured student also started circulating with a claim that he lost his life during the protests.

On December 16, 2019, Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, Najma Akhtar in an official statement said that rumours about the death of two students are false.

“There has been a strong rumour that two students died, we deny this totally, none of our students died. About 200 people were injured of which many were our students, ” she said.

The above information proves that the viral post is false.
