Ethiopian Airlines’ Boeing 737 from Addis to Nairobi crashed in Bishoftu on Sunday and all the people on board are reported dead as per Reuters who quoted Ethiopia state broadcaster.

The victims were from 33 nationalities including Canadians, Chinese, Americans, Italians, Indians, French, British, Egyptians. Four Indians among the 157 people who lost their lives.
“Boeing 737-800MAX took off at 8.38 am (local time) from Addis Ababa and lost contact at 8.44 am (local time). Search and rescue operation is in progress. It is believed that there were 149 passengers and 8 crew onboard (totla of 157 people on board) the flight but we are currently confirming the details.”, Ethiopia Airlines had earlier stated.
The airlines released an accident bulletin giving out the initial information on hand.

The Ethiopian Prime Minister took to Twitter to express condolences on behalf of Government and people of Ethiopia to the families and friends of the victims of the crash.

“The Office of the PM, on behalf of the Government and people of Ethiopia, would like to express it’s deepest condolences to the families of those that have lost their loved ones on Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 on regular scheduled flight to Nairobi, Kenya this morning.”, he wrote on the social microblogging platform.
Investigations have been launched to ascertain the cause of the crash. The airlines will be sending the staff at the site of the incident to assist emergency services.
