Dreamliner to face turbulence at Hyderabad aviation show

Date:

New Delhi: Boeing co. will answer some tough questions at India’s largest aviation event in Hyderabad which showcases the potential of India Aviation Sector, giving an opportunity to the trade visitor to interact with the following segment of the Aviation industry.

Boeing Dreamliner have come under major scrutiny with a series of problems with its 787-Dreamliner. Air India, one of the first customers of the Dreamliner, has faced three snags in the recent times.

Last month an Air India Dreamliner flight to New Delhi from Melbourne was diverted to Kuala Lumpur because of software trouble. In November, the windshield of an Air India Dreamliner cracked as it landed at Melbourne. In October, an exterior panel from the fuselage of another Dreamliner fell off as it landed in Bangalore.

Air India operates 700 Dreamliner flights each month. India’s flagship carrier has ordered 27 Dreamliner. It currently has 12 flying and its 13th will be on display at the March 12 to 16 India Aviation 2014 in Hyderabad.

Boeing needs to maintain its brand in India which is becoming an increasingly important market for aircraft makers. The Dreamliner has had more trouble than most since its 2011 debut, including a three-month grounding of the global fleet last year after battery fires on two planes in Japan.
