Delivery startup Dunzo expands its operations to Mumbai

Dunzo has expanded its operations launching into Mumbai and currently running its services in the suburb of Powai. The startup gears up for expansions in the city and outside, with new offerings even as it is in discussions to raise funds for the same purposes.

Dunzo announced via social media platforms Twitter and Instagram that is now live in Mumbai. It is also planning to expand its bike taxi service- Pillion, to Jaipur this month, The Economic Times reported. The on-demand delivery startup delivers groceries as well as drops and picks up items forgotten by people or to be delivered from one place to another. “We should do about 2 million orders this month. Last month ended at 1.6-1.7 million orders with Bangalore contributing 40% of it,” CEO Kabeer Biswas had told Mint earlier his month in an interview.

It is currently present in Gurugram, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai and Delhi, besides Bangalore.

Dunzo plans to have eight-odd million monthly transactions in about nine cities by the end of the current year, 25 million monthly orders next year, Biswas added.

To facilitate the aggressive growth and expansion, Dunzo is also in talks with venture capital firm Lightbox Ventures to lead a $50 million round, Mint reported on May 29. Dunzo’s other investors include technology giant Google, Aspada Investment Advisors and early stage venture capital firm Blume Ventures, besides venture debt firm Alteria Capital.
