Death penalty for rapists in Mandsaur rape case; trial done in two months

In less than two months the accused in the gang rape case of an eight-year-old in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh were found guilty and were sentenced death penalty. Irfan and Asif, the accused were caught by the police within 24 hours with the help of CCTV footage from the neighbours.

The class 2 girl was raped by the two men after luring her when she was standing outside her school while waiting for her parents on June 26. The man raped her, tortured her and then slit her throat before leaving.

The rape case triggered huge protests in MP. The opposition Congress had attacked the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government for doing “absolutely nothing” for the safety of women and demanded the probe be handed over to the CBI. Madhya Pradesh CM, Shivraj Singh Chauhan demanded death penalty for both the rapists.
