Copa America 2021 To Be Played In Brazil, Confirms CONMEBOL

Date:

The Confederation of South American Football (CONMEBOL) announced on Monday that the 2019 Copa America will be held in Brazil!

The start and end dates of the tournament have been set. Earlier, CONMEBOL had confirmed that Copa America will not be played in Argentina in view of the current COVID-19 circumstances. As of now, CONMEBOL will announce the sites and the match in the coming hours. The event for national teams is the oldest in the world.

Argentina, according to Goal, experienced the world’s fifth-worst coronavirus epidemic per capita, with 76 daily infections per 1,000 people.

CONMEBOL has stated that it is reviewing bids from additional nations that have expressed interest in hosting the event. It notifies that, in light of the current circumstances, it has decided to put Copa America in Argentina on hold.

CONMEBOL examines the offers made by various countries interested in hosting the continental tournament. This will be announced in the near future. Colombia was judged ineligible to host the event earlier this month due to social turmoil and an increase in coronavirus infections.

The Copa America was being held for the first time since 1983 with 10 teams participating with two groups of five teams each. This will be the 47th edition of the famous tournament, which is organized by CONMEBOL, South America’s football governing body.
