Noida: The Noida-Greno West Metro Project which is an extension of the Aqua Line Metro in Gautam Buddh Nagar and passes through the Greater Noida West area has received approval from the central government’s Public Investment Board (PIB).
The budget has been authorised and modified by the PIB, and the file has been forwarded to the government for final approval.
According to a report on a local news website, the PIB has approved the proposal and the central government would put 20% of its funds into the project.
The extension of the Aqua Line metro is planned to link Noida and Greater Noida (West), also known as Noida Extension, and is projected to cost Rs 2,200 crore. Noida Sector 51 and Knowledge Park V in Greater Noida will be connected by the Aqua Line metro extension corridor (West).
Nine stops are planned for the 14.95 kilometre route. Five elevated stations, including sectors 122, 123, 4, 12, Ecotech, and 2, will be built along a 9.15 km long elevated route in the first phase. The remaining four metro stations will be built in the second phase.
The project is expected to begin around March 2023 after final approval from the centre and floating a tender for construction companies. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
