Cake Mixing events kick off in India ahead of Christmas: Plan a visit now

Cake mixing is an age-old tradition across world, especially among the Christians that takes place ahead of Christmas and marks the beginning of the harvest season and the festivities of Christmas. The tradition involves mixing the elaborate ingredients together and waiting for it to be ready to bake and distribution within friends and relatives.

The tradition has a history of its own and with time, it has become an essential part of Christmas celebrations and the Christian culture. The history of the event dates back to the 17th century in Europe. The ceremony marks the arrival of the harvest season.

Around this time in Europe, lots of fruits and nuts were harvested and they were then used in the traditional Christmas plum cakes. During this tradition people also make their wishes for the New Year. The fruits and nuts are mixed with wine and rum or any other liquor for the perfect aroma and taste. What started off as a family affair, is now celebrated within communities and organizations for goodwill and good luck.

Most of the hotels and restaurants around the world celebrate this tradition and invite dignitaries, personalities, as well as food lovers and children to be a part of the ceremony. The ingredients used for the cake include wheat flour, molasses, sugar, salt, shortening, baking soda, powdered whole egg, cinnamon, and ginger which are used to make a gigantic ginger bread.

In India, the cake mixing festivities kicked off this month and if you are considering visiting the country this winter, this is the best time to plan a visit. Most of the luxury hotels and restaurants in the country host this grand event, as the tradition begins almost six weeks prior to Christmas. Delhi, Mussoorie, Bengaluru, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Goa host some of the biggest ceremonies for cake mixing across the country.
