Brand ambassador of Being Extreme

Date:

Case 1: Two court cases. One for killing an endangered species, one for culpable homicide. Killed one, injured four. All charges proved. Reports of physically assaulting former girlfriend.

What kind of man are you painting inside your mind?

Case 2: Owner of a charitable trust, a very well-known one. Has adopted a family. Helpful.

Now?

Which man would you choose as the brand ambassador of India? The first, or the second? Did I hear you say ‘second’?

What if the first and second are the same one?

Yes, it’s Salman. Being extreme.

The actor, on one hand, has set up a charitable trust Being Human Foundation for the cause of underprivileged and the NGO Being Human which sells T-shirts and other merchandise. On the other hand, he is the moody star who has two long drawn legal cases against him (Black Buck case in 1998 and Hit-and-run case in 2002) and who allegedly assaulted his former girlfriend Aishwarya Rai before having a very public face off with her then-said boyfriend Vivek Oberoi.

On being questioned on whether he would like to be the brand ambassador of Kashmir, pat came his reply, No, I’d like to be the brand ambassador of India.

As we all know that the Dabangg star is out on bail now but, many aren’t happy with the court’s decision. This has added one more controversy to his long list in his off-screen life.

Breaking his silence for the first time after he was given bail, Salman thanked his fans who stood by him in his bad days and also expressed his desire to become the brand ambassador of India. Do we really need this kind of an Indian ambassador?

During his very first media interaction after the bail, Salman said, “My message to all those people who stood by me, I owe you guys man…I respect that and really appreciate what you have done, all the prayer (for me).

Salman, who is shooting Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijan said prayers and fast observed by his fan show a lot of love for him. “Some people have also kept Roza, it shows a lot for me. I am accepting with all humility,” he said.

“Now they should pray for themselves apart from me,” the actor said. The actor evaded a direct reply to a question on whether he intended to join politics, saying, politics was a social work as well and he had an ambition to do lot of good work. “I have an ambition to do a lot of good. That is what I believe. If I can make somebody’s life better, then I will do whatever it takes for me to do. Social work is superb and politics in my thinking is a social work. I think there is no better man than a good politician and no worse man than a bad politician,” he said.

Salman also declined to comment on the political situation in Kashmir saying “let’s leave that to politicians like the Chief Minister and the Prime Minister.”

When asked if he would he like to be brand ambassador of Kashmir, he said, “If I had to be brand ambassador, I would like to be brand ambassador of India. We have shot one movie here, we will surely shoot another movie here.”

The actor also said he would like to see cinema halls re-open in Kashmir. “Everyone watches movies here. Cinema theatres should be re-opened here. We would love to premiere a film here if theatres are re-opened,” he said.

Once Salman heads back to Mumbai he will continue shooting for Sooraj Barjatya’s family film ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ with Sonam Kapoor.
