Bollywood divas dazzle at Lakme Fashion Week

Date:

Mumbai: The audiences were in for a visual treat as Bollywood divas dazzled the ramp in their sensuous outfits at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) in India’s showbiz capital Mumbai.

Neha Dhupia and Chitrangada Singh on Friday set the ramp ablaze. The 33-year old actress looked stunning in an orange coat paired with a cropped top, a skirt and cigarette pants as the show stopper which beautifully displayed the designer’s flair for layers. Dhupia credited the exotic design of Swati Vijaivargie as an all time wearable collection.

Speaking at the occasion, Dhupia said, “For me, I always feel, it’s not how much time one spends making clothes but it’s the kind of clothes one makes. Swati is somebody who’s new, newer than most of the designers I know, but I am here to endorse her this evening because of the fact that her designs are absolutely wonderful.”

“Something that is wearable. It’s not when you see it, not that you can only enjoy on the ramp but not off it. Swati thinks of making every woman look beautiful in her clothes and that is what she has done with beautiful colors and play of fabrics,” added Dhupia.

On the other hand, Chitrangada Singh dazzled the ramp showcasing traditional outfit for designer Harshita Chatterjee Deshpande.  “I was told that this collection is inspired by temples and it is very different. I love the vintage and traditional collection and I am a huge fan of Indian style. Even the small detailing that she has done for this outfit has been encrafted from south.”

Konkona Sen Sharma put her best fashion foot forward when she hit the ramp on Thursday in a metallic sari with yellow-gold and rust-gold blocking teamed with a gold metallic blouse as a showstopper for designer Anavila Mishra.

The sari, part of the designer’s collection Mohenjo Daro, was draped like a dhoti. With minimal make-up and a bronze neckpiece, the ‘Page 3’ actress looked stunning.

She was “thrilled” and said: “I am not really closely associated with Lakme but I am very fond of Anavila’s collections. I admire her work and her collections go with my sensibilities. Her collections are subtle and rustic, which is inspired from history. I am feeling great wearing this.”

Ealier on the opening day, former Miss Universe, Sen, looked stunning in a black gown with a transparent back as the showstopper for designer, Aman Aggarwal. Sen credited her exotic appearance to Aggarwal and said she felt sexy and eloquent in the dress. Aggarwal’s collection portrayed tribal artifacts and incorporated ethnic weaving techniques, stripped tattoos and structured jewelry.

On the other hand, Shilpa Shetty, looked elegant in a black slinky gown with huge prints and a draped dupatta. She grooved on the ramp with other models for fashion designer Masaba Gupta’s collection themed ‘wanderess’.

The theme ‘wanderess’ is inspired by renowned poet Roman Payne’s character Saskia. The line of garments was feisty, adventurous yet delicate and with a vintage feel.

Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive 2014 will conclude on coming Sunday.
