Baramulla Attack LIVE updates: Pakistan violates ceasefire multiple times in 24 hours

Amid India’s stunning reply to Pakistan with surgical strikes in PoK last week, terrorists on Sunday night attacked the Army Camp in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir in which one soldier of Indian Army was martyred and at least two terrorists were neutralized.

Here is the series of event since the attack: 

  • Heavily-armed terrorists attacked the two camps, belonging to the Rashtriya Rifles and the Border Security Force (BSF) late at 10:30 PM, leading to a fierce gunbattle with security forces.

 

  • The terrorists gained entry into the 46 battalion of the Rashtriya Rifles through an adjoining BSF camp. The skies in Baramulla, 54km from here, saw illuminators being fired by the Army to locate the terrorists.

  • The terrorists, believed to be about three to four in number, may have fled after an intense two-hour gun battle, sources said, and the entire area has been cordoned off as security forces search for them.

  • The martyred soldier has been identified as Constable Nitin and the injured soldier is Constable Pulwinder. Both are from the 40th battalion of the BSF

  • Senior BSF officials have arrived in the area on Monday morning.

  • BSF DG K K Sharma briefed Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh about the incident.

 

  • Heavy mortar shelling from Pakistani side in Poonch sector, J&K at 12:30 PM on Monday.

 

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi meets NSA Ajit Doval to review the situation.
  • MoS Home Ministry, Kiren Rijiju said, “Forces capable of containing attacks.”

 

  • Delhi Chief Arvind Kejriwal showed his support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to combat terrorism and appealed him to counter Pak’s dirty propaganda.

“We fully support PM on surgical strikes. Urge him to similarly counter Pak’s dirty propaganda.”

  • Pakistan violated ceasefire, Pak troops targeted Indian posts in Saujian, Poonch J&K at 2:45PM.

 

  • Pakistan violates another ceasefire in Sabzian and Mandi sector in Jammu and Kashmir. This is fourth ceasefire violation in past 24 hours.
