From a Five Point Someone to India’s golden novelist, Chetan Bhagat has made readers delve into the realms of immortal friendships and love.

He was cited as the biggest selling English Language novelist in India’s history by New York Times in 2008.

TIME magazine named the Ex-Banker as one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2010.

 

 

Early Life

Bhagat was born on April 22, 1974 to a Punjabi family in New Delhi.

He studied at Army Public School and went on to do get degree in mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology.

After receiving his MBA from Indian Institute of Management, he worked in Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank for 11 years, moving to Mumbai to pursue his passion for writing.

 

Career

Chetan’s literary career began while he was working. His first novel, “Five Point Someone” (2004) came out in 2004. The novel took him to the peaks of fame and popularity. His next ventures, “One Night @ the Call Center” (2005), “Three Mistakes of My life” (2008),” 2 States: The story of my marriage” (2009) have remained bestsellers since their release.  

Apart from being an author, Chetan writes op-ed columns for “Times of India” and “Dainik Bhaskar” focusing on youth, career and issues on national development.

Among his other activites, Bhagat is known to deliver speeches at programs organized by corporate, educational institutes, newspapers and media houses.

He debuted as a screenplay writer for the super hit movie, “Kick” in 2014.
