Andhra Pradesh assembly polls: YS Jaganmohan Reddy to take oath as chief minister on May 30

YS Jaganmohan Reddy is set to take oath as the new chief minister of Andhra Pradesh on May 30, as his YSR Congress Party is leading on 150 of the state’s 175 assembly seats. The majority mark in the state assembly stands at 88.

The current Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party, which ruled the state since the bifurcation of Telangana in 2014, has failed to retain in power. In the assembly, he is likely to be reduced to 26 seats. One seats may go to the BJP.

YSRCP leader Ummareddy Venkateswarlu said: “Out of 175 assembly seats, YSRCP is leading on 150 seats. People have confidence on Jaganmohan Reddy to lead the state. Looking at the loot by N Chandrababu Naidu, the public doesn’t want him to rule the state.”

Whereas, counting of votes started Thursday morning for the 542 seats of the Lok Sabha. Early leads show Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s BJP has crossed 300 seats.
