Amitabh-Abhishek in legal trouble over tricolor insult

Date:

From interesting storylines to engaging songs, patriotism is well portrayed in Bollywood films. However there have been negative moments too as far as the national flag of India is concerned.

There have been instances when the tricolour has been disrespected by celebrities unknowingly and that turned out to be a big headache for them.

And the same happened with none other than the Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek Bachchan.

The case has been registered in Ghaziabad court which states that the actors were seen covering their bodies with the national flag in a manner insulting to the nation.

Complainant Chetan Dhiman in his complaint before the judicial magistrate’s court said the actors were seen with the national flag during the India-Pakistan World Cup cricket match in Adelaide on February 15.

Dhiman’s lawyer Sanjeev Sharma said the complainant and five of his friends saw the mega star wearing the national flag in an insulting manner.

He said that by such an act, the internationally acclaimed cine star and his son downgraded India’s reputation.

He said the actors’ act was covered under The Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, and the Flag Code of India, 2002, and both should be summoned before the court to face trial.

Celebs involved in tricolour controversy

A poster of Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat sitting atop an ambassador car with the Tricolour draped around her for her film, ‘Dirty Politics’, created a lot of controversy and a petition was filed against her and the producer for allegedly insulting the National Flag.

Sachin Tendulkar was accused of insulting the Indian flag, when pictures of Tendulkar celebrating his birthday on March 2010 by cutting a tricolour cake went viral.

Actress Mandira Bedi’s sari on the occasion of World Cup finals had images of national flags of all the cricket-playing nations printed on it. But, the image of the Indian Tricolour was in a rather disrespectful position.

Superstar Shahrukh Khan was booked by Pune police for allegedly insulting the national flag. He was based on the complaint of Lok Janshakti Party national secretary Ravi Brahme that Shah Rukh, allegedly insulted the tricolour in a video uploaded on Youtube.

Bollywood actress Kim Sharma participated in the rally against the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks at Taj hotel. Indian national flag was pinned on her top which was upside down.

Sania Mirza insulted Indian National flag which created a lot of buzz at the social media.

Parvathy Omanakutan, Malayalam actress was seen posing a Namaste posture for  shutterbugs, wearing a mini skirt customised with national flag and also created a lot of controversy.
