Supreme Court on January 8 reinstated Alok Verma as the chief of CBI. However, the SC said that he cannot take any major policy decisions.

A high-powered selection committee, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and comprising of the Leader of Opposition and the Chief Justice of India met to decide on the future of Verma.

However, no decision was reached, with the committee scheduled to meet again at 4 pm on Thursday. Alok Verma’s term ends later in January.
