Ajinkya Rahane penalized Rs 12 lakh for slow over rate

Ajinkya Rahane, the captain of Rajasthan Royals has been penalized Rs 12 lakh after his team Rajasthan maintained a slow over rate during their match against Mumbai Indians yesterday night.
Rahane and co. totally outplayed the defending champions Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets after Jos Buttler played outstandingly for his fifth consecutive half-century.
“Rajasthan Royals captain Ajinkya Rahane has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their IPL match against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on May 13,” an IPL release said.
“As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr Rahane was fined Rs 12 lakh,” the release said.
Currently, Rajasthan Royals are well placed in the fifth position on the points table and they will next battle against Kolkata Knight Riders on 15th of May at Eden Gardens in the city of joy, Kolkata.
Last month, Virat Kohli, the skipper of Royal Challengers Bangalore, was also fined with a penalty of INR 12 lakh after his side was not able to bowl their overs within the specified time against Chennai Super Kings at the Chinnaswamy cricket ground.
