2 girls gang raped by 5 youths, 2 held

Jamshedpur, Aug 31 (PTI) Two teenaged girls were gangraped by five youths at Chakradharpur in West Singhbhumdistrict, the police said today. The police arrested two of the five accused today,Chakradharpur SDPO Ajay Kerketta said. One of the five youths who was known to a victim had askedher to visit a fair held on the occasion of Janmashtami atChakradharpur on Monday. The tribal girl attended the fair alongwith a friend andthe youth offered them to drop them at their villageGhagraghat, about 11 kms from Chakradharpur, on hismotorcycle. The SDPO said the girls, who were aged 17 and 18, agreedto the proposal. However, he stopped the motorbike near a jungle, abouta kilometre from the village of the girls, where four of hisfriends joined him and took turns to rape them. Police were informed of the incident after the girlsreached the village next morning and narrated the incident. The statement of the two girls was recorded in a localcourt before they were sent for medical check up today. Kerketta said two of the accused, including the one whotook them on his motorbike, were arrested. The identity of the three others who are on the run hasbeen established and they would be arrested soon, he saidadding it was a pre-planned crime. PTI BS NNKUN
