16-year-old Arhan Bagati launches ‘InRio’ app for Rio bound Para-athletes

Date:

This app will give the athletes all their information: their emergency contacts, diet and a nutrition plan available for them, along with a map, restaurants and places to visit.

New Delhi: 16-year-old Arhan Bagati, launched ‘InRio’, a mobile application which he developed, that would provide useful information and assist the para-athletes bound for the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro.

“I was working with the Paralympics Committee of India and I started it, because I wanted to run in the Sports for Development Run. Incidentally, my father knew the treasurer of PCI and I went to him to fill the form for running. They needed somebody who could make an audio-visual. I started because I thought I can make an audio-visual as I am good at it,” Bagati told ANI.

“In Rio, when the athletes will go, they will have all their information readily available, their emergency contacts, diet and a nutrition plan available for them, along with a map, restaurants and places to visit. All these facilities will be available on the app,” he added.

Launching the application in presence of Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung and Union Minister of state (IC) for Sports & Youth Affairs Sarbananda Sonowal, Bagati said that the contract is for Rio and it would be modified for the Tokyo Paralympics in 2020.

“Every four years when the Paralympics Games are taking place, we will keep on updating it,” he said.
