FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be fake.

Firstly, we found that Captain Gupta jumped from a helicopter into the Takhat Sagar reservoir near Jodhpur city of Rajasthan on January 7, 2021, as part of the specialist operation exercise and his body was traced on January 12, 2021. However, in the above video, it is evident that the man is jumping from a hot air balloon.

We then extracted the keyframes of the video and ran them through Reverse Image Search and found that the same video was shared on Facebook in December 2020.

After another search, we found that the same video was uploaded by another user in August 2020. We also noticed that the video has a watermark at the bottom left corner, which read: @mysteryparto.

We then searched the page and found that the same video was uploaded on the page on July 17, 2020.

The above information proves that the video has been in circulation on social media long before Captain Gupta’s tragic end. However, NewsMobile independently couldn’t verify the location of the origin of the video.

Hence, the fact check establishes the video is being shared with a false and misleading claim.
