Delhi Govt To Begin COVID-19 Vaccination At 81 Locations, Details Here

Date:

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced that the COVID-19 vaccination will be conducted at 81 centres across the national capital on January 16. He added that the number of centres will be increased to 175 in a few days and then to 1,000 across the national capital.

The vaccination drive will take place 4 days a week – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday to mitigate the spread of coronavirus.

“So far, we have received 2,74,000 doses of vaccine from the Centre. Each person will be administered two doses & the Centre provides a 10% extra vaccine, taking damage into account. So the 2,74,000 doses will be sufficient for around 1,20,000 health workers,” said Kejriwal after the meet.

The Delhi police have made security arrangements in the city for the smooth transportation of the vaccines, officials said on Tuesday.

Kejriwal also tweeted on Wednesday that the number of Covid-19 deaths has come down a lot which is “quite satisfactory”. “This is the result of hardwork of people of Delhi. Congratulations to all the people of Delhi, but don’t lower guard, maintain caution,” the CM said.

The chief minister had announced a Rs 1 crore financial assistance for the family of Dr. Gupta, who works at a Delhi government dispensary in Karkardooma and died in November 2020.

Earlier Yesterday, he had announced that the AAP Government will provide coronavirus vaccine free to the people of Delhi if the Centre fails to do so.
Kejriwal said that he has already appealed to the Centre for ensuring free vaccination in the country as “there are many people who may not afford the life-saving shot”.

36 government hospitals and 53 private hospitals will have a vaccination site each, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain had said on Sunday. In the first phase, healthcare workers will be vaccinated followed by frontline workers. Teachers have also been included in the category of frontline workers, he said.
