Soon after Sriwijaya Air flight carrying 62 people on board crashed after taking off from Jakarta in Indonesia on January 9, a picture of a baby in life jacket started making rounds on social media with the claim that the baby survived the crash.

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be misleading.
A simple Reverse Image Search on the picture led us to multiple websites which had shared the same picture in 2018. “Miraculously, a baby was found safely alone in a buoy after bobbing in the sea,” the headline (translated) of the article read.
