Five Days After Undergoing Angioplasty, Sourav Ganguly Discharged From Hospital

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly was discharged from Woodlands hospital at 10:40 am in Kolkata on Thursday after 5 days of being admitted and undergoing an emergency angioplasty. Ganguly thanked the team of doctors in the hospital after he emerged from hospital to leave for home along with his doctor.

“I thank the doctors at the hospital for the treatment. I am absolutely fine,” said Sourav Ganguly. Noted cardiologist Dr Devi Shetty had flown to Kolkata on Tuesday to assess Ganguly’s condition.

Woodlands hopsital CEO Rupali Basu said, “We are happy and honoured to be with dada when he needed us and happy he is clinically fit to go home.”

As Ganguly reached home a few minutes later, fans were waiting outside his house, relieved to see the Prince of Kolkata back home and in better health.

The 48 year old BCCI President was admitted to Woodlands hospital on Saturday after he had a blackout while he was working out on the treadmill at home. Ganguly who suffered a cardiac arrest has as family history of Ischemic Heart Disease.

Ganguly has to undergo another angioplasty at a later stage. His arteries were blocked by over 70%. Ganguly has received one stent in one of the arteries and angioplasty will be done on two other coronary blockages at a later stage.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar, Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs Anurag Thakur, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah were amongst those to visit the former Indian cricket team captain in hospital.

Meanwhile celebrities and cricketers tweeted get well soon wishes to Dada.
