FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the picture to be morphed.

We started our investigation by checking the official website of National Geographic. However, after scanning the website carefully, we did not find the above cover.

We also scanned through Nat Geo’s January 2021 issue but did not find this cover.

We then cropped the picture of the farmer from the viral post and ran it through Reverse Image Search. The search led us to the same image featured in a photo gallery by The Outlook on December 12, 2020.

“A farmer at Singhu border during their ‘Delhi Chalo’ protest march against the new farm laws, in New Delhi. PTI Photo/Ravi Choudhary,” the picture was captioned.

Moreover, while analysing the viral cover for clues, we noticed ‘@anoopreet’ written at the right-hand bottom corner.

We then ran a search and found that the picture was uploaded by Anoopreet on January 3, 2020. In her post, she has mentioned that it is an ‘imagined cover’.

This proves that this is not an actual cover and the post claim is false.
