In some shocking news, all the residents of Himachal Pradesh’s Thorang village, except one man, have tested positive for COVID-19. Only 52-year-old Bhushan Thakur tested negative for the disease.
As per reports, the outbreak in this village located in Himachal Pradesh’s Lahaul is being linked to a religious programme held a few days back in the village. People living in nearby areas are also expected to be positive for the virus, The Times of India reported.
Authorities have barred the entry of tourists to Teling nullah, located near the north portal of the Rohtang Tunnel, in a bid to curb the spread of the viral disease. Tourists have also been denied entry to Lahaul villages as the village beyond Rohtang Tunnel has been converted into containment zones.
As per reports, Thorang village has 42 residents as others have migrated to Kullu for winter. Upon voluntarily deciding to get tested, 41 out of the 42 villagers tested positive for COVID-19
As of now, over 850 people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Lahaul Spiti villages. Rising cases have become a matter of concern for the administration.
