In what is being seen as a trust building measure between two sides who have been engaged in a bitter border standoff for months, Indian Army handed over Chinese soldier Corporal Wang Ya Long to People’s Liberation Army (PLA) at the Chushul Moldo meeting point on Tuesday night.

The Chinese soldier had strayed into Ladakh and was apprehended in the Demchok sector of eastern Ladakh on Monday after he strayed across the Line of Actual Control (LAC). He was handed over to China after completion of official formalities.

Indian Army provided medical assistance including oxygen, food and warm clothes to protect the Chinese soldier from vagaries of extreme weather in the region.
