Fact Check: False post about NEET 2020 examination toppers goes viral; here’s the truth

National Testing Agency (NTA) declared the NEET UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-UG) 2020 results a few days back.

Following the announcement, a post started doing the rounds on social media listing top five rank holders of NEET-UG 2020.

According to the viral message, the top 5 position holders belonged to a minority community in India.

“As NEET results are declared, we must look this interesting fact about Results.
Rank 1 – Shoyeb Aftab
Rank 2 – Zeeshan Ashraf
Rank 3 – Yasir Hameed
Rank 4 – Sajid Mehmood
Rank 5 – Sana Mir
Modi Ji, Just tell me why only Hindus?
RT coz nobody will tell you this.#NEETResult2020
Waiting for show about#NEETJIHAD” the Facebook post read.

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found it to be false and misleading.

First, we checked the original source of the result, the NTA website, where results were declared.

We checked the toppers list as mentioned on the NTA website and that of the viral post and found that only one of the names match.

Moreover, we also checked the other names listed in the viral post and found the following:

Zeeshan Ashraf – Pakistani cricketer
Yasir Hameed – Pakistani cricketer
Sajid Mehmood – former English cricketer
Sana Mir – former Pakistani cricketer
Hence, from the above information, it is clear that the post in question is false and has been designed to mislead people.
