Speaking on a Republic TV debate show on Sunday, NewsMobile Editor-in-Chief Saurabh Shukla said that the Supreme Court is the preserver of democracy and should provide protection to independent journalists who are facing vendetta politics.
“Clearly there is a vendetta that is being run against Republic and some of the other independent networks across the country to make sure they are not allowed to run stories opposing those in power. It’s about media freedom,” Saurabh said.
Saurabh Shukla also said, “I would say, the honourable supreme court should make sure there’s a committee which can protect independent journalists in this country, that’s what is needed.”
Asking the Supreme Court to intervene, NewsMobile Editor-in-Chief said, “I would ask the honourable court to intervene in this matter because this is the larger issue, and the larger issue of press freedom has to be addressed. This case should become a game-changer.”
