Was it a suicide or murder?
A panel of experts at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) which was re-examining the post mortem report and viscera findings of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, has submitted its report to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Headed by Dr Sudhir Gupta, the panel was formed as per CBI’s request to study the autopsy and viscera reports.
Sushant was found hanging in his Bandra flat on June 14. While Mumbai police had said it was a case of suicide, there has been intense speculation that Sushant was murdered.
The panel handed over the report to CBI after the team of doctors held a detailed meeting on Monday. The findings of the panel will be taken as expert opinion in this investigation and doctors would be prosecution witnesses, highly placed sources said.
CBI incidentally issued a statement on Monday and said that it was conducting a “professional investigation” where “all aspects are being looked at and no aspect has been ruled out”.
Dr Sudhir Gupta, who led the AIIMS panel, was quoted by news agency ANI as saying, “There is a need to look into some legal aspects for a logical legal conclusion.”
Last week, Sushant Singh Rajput’s family’s lawyer Vikas Singh had tweeted, “Getting frustrated by the delay in CBI taking a decision to convert abetment to suicide to Murder of SSR. The Doctor who is part of AIIMS team had told me long back that the photos sent by me indicated 200% that it’s death by strangulation and not suicide.”
Subsequent to his claims Dr Sudhir Gupta had said “no conclusive opinion could be made just by seeing pictures”..
