Delhi Capitals vs Kings XI Punjab: Which will emerge as the stronger team?

Let’s talk about two teams which are strong as a squad, yet they have not got their moment of glory in awhile. We are talking about Delhi Capitals(DC) and Kings XI Punjab(KXIP) who are set to play their first matches in IPL 2020 on September 20th at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Both sides have played 24 games against each other in the last IPL editions. DC emerged victorious in 10 matches, while KXIP have won 14 of them.

In recent years, both teams have underachieved, undermining the squads’ potential. KXIP reached the final in IPL 2014 while DC reached the second qualifier in IPL 2019. Keeping this in mind, both teams barge into IPL 2020 with confidence. But how far will their confidence take them? The two teams are yet to take home an IPL trophy.

For DC, their batting is in good shape with Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane. Saptain Shreyas Iyer is banking on his men to put their best foot forward. As far as the bowlers are concerned, there is Kagiso Rabada, Ishant Sharma, Sandeep Lamichhane and Amit Mishra to rely on. Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw opened for the Capitals in 2019 and most likely it will the same this year too.

The Punjab team has Chris Gayle in their line-up.

Glenn Maxwell and Chris Jordan have also been roped in to strengthen the team.

The other teammates are Mayank Agrawal, Mandeep Singh and Sarfaraz Khan. Mohammed Shami, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Ishan Porel, and Krishnappa are there as well. Skipper KL Rahul who has come on board as the captain for the first time will add value to the team. Anil Kumble as coach has been one of the greatest former Indian players and his experience will transform to his team. Will Kumble’s strategy for his team strike the right chord on field?
