UPSC is one of the most prestigious exams for civil servants in India and a post about UPSC Exam is making rounds on social media. The post demands that Islamic Studies should be removed from UPSC immediately and if not, Vedic Studies should be added.
(English Translation: Islamic studies should be removed from UPSC immediately or also add Vedic studies! All Hindu brothers and sisters are requested to support this.)
NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found it to be FAKE.
With the help of keyword search ‘UPSC exam subjects’ on Google, we found a flow chart of UPSC Mains Exam Subjects on IAScoaching.com. According to the flow chart, there is no subject like Islamic studies in UPSC.
Further, we also found more information about UPSC exam on Byjus that UPSC conducts Civil Service exam in three stages. And none of the stages includes subjects like Islamic Studies on the study portal.
Moreover, we did not find anything about the Islamic studies on the Official Site of UPSC.
For further confirmation, we also spoke with Amit Sharma, a spokesperson from Counselling and Query Department of Vajiram & Ravi(a well-know coaching Institute and IAS coaching centre in India), who also claims that there is no information about Islamic Studies in UPSC and the social media posts are Fake.
There is a parallel universe where UPSC offers Islamic Studies as optional subject. It’s called WhatsApp Universe.
