Landslides in Uttarakhand, flood warning in Odisha

Persistent rains in Uttarakhand has led to landslides. Badrinath National Highway has been blocked since last 17 hours due to landslide at Chamoli’s Pursadi area following heavy rains in Lambagar & Bhannerpani area of the state.

Over in Odisha, steady rainfall has submerged many areas and led to a flood warning. Around 7000 people have been shifted from low-lying to safer areas, as parts of the state get flooded. Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Boudh, Kendrapara & Sonepur received a lot of rain and are facing flood-like situation.” Several areas in Bhadrak district face flooding, as the water-level of Baitarani river has risen due to heavy rainfall.

Private weather forecaster Skymet has predicted rain activities will increase over Mumbai and suburbs and moderate rains are expected from August 28th onwards.

The met department has forecast rainfall around Muzaffarnagar, Panipat, Narora, Atrauli, Aligarh, Hathras, Shikohabad. Thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain would occur over and nearby areas.

 

The IMD has warned of heavy to very heavy rain is also likely over several parts of central India like Chhattisgarh, east Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha till August 30.
