There are reports that a bowler is among 10 members of the crew of Chennai Super Kings to have tested positive for the corona virus after their arrival in Dubai for IPL matches due to start from September 19. IPL teams Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and defending champions Mumbai Indians arrived in the UAE last Friday, August 21, and went straight into a 6-day quarantine.
All players and crew had to go through mandatory testing on days one, three and six of the isolation period. This news has come as a big setback for the CSK team and their quarantine period has been extended to September 1 and teams cannot begin training till players clear all 3 corona tests. Now the CSK team will have to wait for the result of a fourth corona test that they will have to undergo. The result should be out on Saturday.
CSK had held a five-day camp at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai from August 15. A couple of team members had to be left behind after they tested positive for COVID-19. As per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) put in place by the BCCI team members all tested negative multiple times and then boarded the flight to Dubai.
Sixty games will be played over 53 days across three venues in the UAE — Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah during the IPL tournament.
