India dubs Pak’s new map “as exercise in political absurdity”

Within hours of Pakistan unveiling its new political map claiming parts of Indian territory including Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh as its own, India issued a strong rebuttal.

In a terse statement directed at Pakistan, the Ministry of External Affairs called it an “exercise in political absurdity”.

The statement read: We have seen a so-called “political map” of Pakistan that has been released by Prime Minister Imran Khan. This is an exercise in political absurdity, laying untenable claims to territories in the Indian State of Gujarat and our Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and of Ladakh. These ridiculous assertions have neither legal validity nor international credibility. In fact, this new effort only confirms reality of Pakistan’s obsession with territorial aggrandisement supported by cross-border terrorism.

Ahead of August 5, the first anniversary of abrogation of Article 370, Imran Khan as a part of his larger ‘Insult India’ campaign, had released a new political map of Pakistan including Jammu and Kashmir. J&K ceased to be a state with the annulment of Article 370 leading to the birth of Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

As NewsMobile had reported earlier, Pakistan has chalked out a series of programmes including a visit by PM Imran Khan to address a rally at Muzaffarabad in PoK to peddle its pack of lies and spin a fake narrative against India and human rights violations in the Valley.

Unveiling the new political map, Khan said this map would now be be extensively to showcase Pakistan’s territory not just in schools and colleges but will also be shared with the international community.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, while explaining the contours of the new map, said, “Siachen was ours in the past and will always be ours. Our destination is Srinagar. We want to tell the world that India has illegally occupied our territory.”

Reiterating that the cabinet had approved the new map, Imran Khan said the only solution to the Kashmir problem lies in the “right to self determination” of Kashmiris as per by the UN resolution.

“We want a political solution, not a military solution to the Kashmir problem. India’s act on August 5 last year to do away with the special powers of J&K and a move to bring in outsiders and make them settle in Kashmir is aimed at rendering the Kashmiri population into a minority population,” Khan said.

Incidentally, Nepal too has ratified a new political map including Lipu Lekh, Sipaidhura and Kalapani areas of the Indian state of Uttarakhand in its own territory, a mover which has been strongly opposed by the Ministry of External Affairs.
