India reports 57,117 new cases in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health. The total tally now is at 16,95,988.

1. India has reported a single-day spike of 57,117 positive cases and 764 deaths in India in the last 24 hours. Total coronavirus positive cases stand at 16,95,988 including 5,65,103 active cases, 10,94,374 cured/discharged & 36,511 deaths: Health Ministry

2. The second round of Delhi’s seroprevalence survey will begin today. It will end on August 5. The survey will aim to collect 15,000 samples. During the survey, random people will be tested for antibodies.

3. The human clinical trial of indigenously developed Covaxin, a possible vaccine against coronavirus, began at a hospital in Gorakhpur, officials said on Friday.

4. Section 144 in Noida, Gretare Noida: Restrictions under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), which bars assembly of more than four people, have been extended till August 31 in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddh Nagar district which includes the twin cities of Noida and Greater Noida.

5. Bihar recorded its biggest one-day spike of 2,986 COVID-19 cases on Friday, which pushed the state’s tally to 50,987.

6. The Odisha government on Friday announced a weekend shutdown in four districts and Rourkela city till August 31 in the wake of a spurt in COVID- 19 cases, officials said.

7. In Tamil Nadu, all Sundays till August 31 will see a complete lockdown, ANI reports

8. The Mizoram government says that the total number of Covid-19 cases in the state is 412, including 247 discharged cases and 165 active cases.

10. The personal driver of Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s wife, Kalpna Soren has tested positive for coronavirus. One secretary posted in CMO has also tested positive for coronavirus. The staff has a travel history to Patna in Bihar. Screening and contact tracing will be done today.
