In what is being seen as yet another face-off between Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Lieutenant Governor, LG Anil Baijal cancelled two orders issued by Delhi Government which had given the go-ahead for opening hotels and weekly markets in the national capital during Unlock 3 phase.

Kejriwal had given permission to hotels to reopen from August 1 and had also ordered a one week trial period for weekly markets to start operating through a government order few days back.

However, LG Anil baijal took strong exception to Kejriwal’s notification regarding opening up of hotels and weekly markets and overruled his decision saying that these orders cannot be implemented. Delhi incidentally saw 1,195 new COVID-19 cases on Friday.

The COVID-19 tally in the national capital stands at 1.35 lakh cases. The fatality rate stands at about 2.92 per cent with 3,963 deaths being recorded till date.
