In a shocking development, 18 out of 100 COVID -19 positive children, who were admitted in Mumbai’s Wadia hospital have developed symptoms of critical disease PMIS. PMIS stands for Paediatric Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome, a Kawasaki disease-type ailment, this has now become a big cause of worry for doctors and researchers.
The PMIS is usually observed in infants below five years but in India it is being seen in children upto age of 15 years.The symptoms of the disease are fever, skin rash, fatigue and diarrhoea and can be fatal if untreated.

According to reports, two children with coronavirus have already died after being affected by PMIS in Mumbai. Some reports in the media also suggest that one of the two dead children had cancer along with Coronavirus and the other was severely ill when he reached the hospital.
This worrisome development has ignited the doctors and researchers to enhance their study on how the deadly coronavirus is affecting the body of a child.
Maharashtra currently has 1,32,538 amount of total confirmed cases and 12,276 as of now. The covid tally in the state is showing no sign of turning down soon.
