Amid coronavirus outbreak, Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal today announced the decision to postpone the JEE Mains and NEET examinations for this year .The JEE examination will be held between September 1 to 6, JEE advanced exam will be held on September 27 and NEET examination will take place on September 13.
Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ had informed on Thursday that a panel had been asked to decide the feasibility of conducting medical entrance exam NEET and engineering exam JEE in July as COVID-19 cases are on the surge.
The move by the HRD Ministry comes after parents and students raised concerns about conducting the exams in July due to their doubts about whether proper precautionary norms would have been taken in conducting of the examinations.

“Looking at the prevailing circumstances and requests received from students & parents appearing for JEE and NEET examinations, a committee consisting of officials from the National Testing Agency (NTA) and other experts has been advised to review the situation and submit its recommendations latest by tomorrow,” Nishank said.
Last week, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had cancelled some board exam papers scheduled from July 1 to 15 after a group of parents moved to the Supreme Court raising concerns about COVID-19 risk to students.
Students have been regularly signing online petitions and pursuing Twitter campaigns, and requesting the government to postpone both engineering & medical exams.
