Political crisis has peaked in the Himalayan kingdom. With calls for his resignation growing louder by the minute, Nepal Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli rushed to Shital Niwas in Kathmandu to meet President Bidhya Devi Bhandari. Oli is expected to speak to the nation in the evening.

The Standing Commitee Meeting of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) meanwhile began at the PM House in Nepal after waiting for PM Oli for more than an hour. The meeting was being headed by Oli’s fierce critic Prachanda. Incidentally, PM Oli chaired a Cabinet Meeting in the same PM House in Baluwatar in another room.

Nepal Government meanwhile decided to prorogue or discontinue the Budget session of the Parliament.

Oli has been severely criticised  for his anti-India rhetoric and accusing New Delhi of hatching a conspiracy to topple his government. Seniors within the ruling party including Prachanda had challenged Oli to prove his allegations against India or step down. Oli had also taken the leade to tweat Nepal’s political map to include Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura which India claims to be part of the state of Uttarakhand. MEA had also conveyed its displeasure to Nepal this ‘unilateral act’.

Oli was taken to Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre in Kathmandu on Wednesday after he complained of chest pain, according to news agency ANI.
