COVID-19 | Top 10 developments in India this Thursday morning

Positive cases in India stand at 6,04,641 including 2,26,947 active cases, 3,59,860 cured/discharged/migrated and 17834 deaths, as per the latest government data.

Here are the 10 developments in India this morning:

1.As India entered phase 2 of Unlock, country’s COVID-19 case count remained higher as it registered 434 deaths and 19,148 new cases in the last 24 hours.

2. Positive cases in India stand at 6,04,641 including 2,26,947 active cases, 3,59,860 cured/discharged/migrated and 17834 deaths, as per the latest Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data.

3. In the month of June, when relaxations were introduced under Unlock-1, the country has reported 3,76,305 cases.

4. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Gujarat account for nearly two-thirds of the total cases.

5. Nagaland reports 34 new COVID-19 positive cases, taking the total number of cases to 535 including 353 active cases, 182 recoveries and no deaths so far: State Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom.

6. Kerala government is running ‘First Bell’ – virtual classes for school students of the state, through the KITE Victers channel and other online mechanisms, when the schools are closed amid COVID-19 pandemic.

7. No new cases found out of 382 samples tested in last 24 hours. Total COVID-19 positive cases in the state stand at 160, cured/discharged 123, active cases 37 and 0 deaths: Department of Information and Public Relations, Government of Mizoram.

8. 5800 vehicles seized in last two days, in connection with violation of coronavirus lockdown norms. On 30th June, 3508 vehicles were seized and on 1st July, 2369 vehicles were seized: Mumbai Police.

9. With five fresh coronavirus casualties in the past 24 hours, the death toll due to the disease in Bihar increased to 73, while the total number of cases reached 10,204 after 217 people tested positive, a health department official said on Wednesday.

10. Tamil Nadu inched towards the grim milestone of one lakh infections recording 3,882 coronavirus cases and 63 deaths on Wednesday while the total samples tested so far crossed the 12 lakh mark, the government said. The total cases stood at 94,049 while the toll, which has been rising significantly in the past several days, touched 1,264.
