As part of the right sizing exercise and also to cut costs, India’s aviation regulator Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has reduced the number of flight operations inspectors to about half, it said in a circular on Tuesday.
The new contracts will also be coming which may lead to a reduction of salaries also, sources say in line with the cuts in the aviation industry.
A number of these inspectors who are trained pilots are seconded from different airlines and some of them are also from the Air Force. Also, the age of retirement for being an inspector has been reduced to 65 years from 70 years earlier.
While the contract for some of them has been renewed for three more months fresh contracts may be given to them.
