Fact Check: These are not the mortal remains of soldiers who died in Ladakh during the India-China face-off

Date:

A picture of Indian soldiers, wrapped in tri-colour, is doing the rounds on social media, with a claim, that they are coffins of 20 soldiers who lost their lives during the recent clashes between India and China in Galwan valley in Ladakh.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found that the picture is OLD.

On putting the image through Reverse Image Search, we found the original picture in an article by Reddit dated February 16, 2019.

The headline read: “The mortal remains of the martyred Indian soldiers from the Pulwama terrorist attack being taken to their hometown for cremation.”

This proves that the image in question is old and has no connection with the recent India-china face-off. People should be careful while posting such pictures, as they have a high emotional meaning for the citizens of India.
