Delhi: Men rob gas agency delivery boy by impersonating as vigilance officers; two held

Four men impersonated as vigilance officers and robbed a delivery man of a gas agency on June 16 near Alsifa Hospital, Jamia Nagar in Delhi.

The police have arrested two accused — Abid (25) and Parvez Khan (21) — and recovered two gas cylinders and a Hyundai car.

While Abid worked as a translator for Arabic language but presently has no job, Parvez Khan had studied up to 12th class from DPS Faridabad. According to the complainant, Umesh Singh — who works in Sukhdev Vihar Gas cylinder godown — the accused took away his two gas cylinders and Rs 3,000 cash.

He said that at about 1 PM, he along with other delivery boys Babu and Sanju were present near Alsifa Hospital for supplying gas cylinder when four men approached him and introduced themselves as vigilance officers and robbed him.

Investigation

Sensing the gravity of the offence, a dedicated team comprising SI Ravindra, ASI Rakesh & Ct. Surender led by Inspr. Vijay Pal, SHO/Shaheen Bagh and overall supervision of Shri Jagdish Yadav, ACP/ New Friends Colony was constituted.

During the investigation, ownership of the said car was collected and it was found registered in the name of one Parvez Khan son of Samsuddin resident of Kailash Apartments, Agra Chowk, Palwal in Haryana.

Officials of the gas agency were also contacted and it was revealed that one person called to the agency through mobile phone and complaining about malpractices done by their delivery boys.

Ownership of the phone number was also collected and it was subscribed in the name of one Shikha Sharma resident Ram Nagar Extension, Mandoli Road, Delhi.

Thereafter, staff reached Ram Nagar Extension Delhi where Shikha Sharma was not present. Her relatives told that the Shikha Sharma had shifted from here. She was well known to one Subham and Shubham had taken above phone number on her Id.

Now Neeraj brother of Subham is using the above phone number. Thereafter staff reached at the given address in Palwal and on secret information, the staff managed to apprehend two persons with Car No. HR-30-U-5296 at Agra chock, Palwal (HR).

They were identified as Abid resident of Village Rangala, PS Ferozpur Zirka, Nuh, Haryana, and Parvez Khan lives in Kailash Apartments, Agra Chowk, Palwal, Haryana.

During interrogation, both accused confessed that they along with their associates Salim and Neeraj committed the said robbery and both gas cylinders are kept in a rented room at Govindpuri.

Interrogation

On sustained interrogation, it has been revealed that accused Abid has seven sisters. His father is a farmer. He is married and has two children. He had studied up to 8th class. Earlier, he worked as a translator for Arabic language and facilitates persons coming from Gulf countries for medical treatment to ARTIMIS Hospital, sector 45, Gurugram.

Later on, he started business jointly by taking a guest house but had a loss in business. He came in contact with Salim who was working in contract with Haryana Electricity Board. He also purchased a swift car on loan from Bank but due to financial crisis could not repay his instalments.

He was very much in need of money. He contacted one Sandeep, working in Private Hospital in Gurugram. Sandeep introduced him to one Vinay. Vinay further introduced him to Neeraj who deals in finance and give a loan on interest. Abid mortgaged his car with Neeraj for Rs 2 lakh.

After a few days, Abid asked Neeraj for any work as he was facing financial problem due to lockdown and was not able to repay 02 Lakh rupees to him. Neeraj told him that he will pay him 8000-10,000/- rupees per day for working 4/5 hours and asked him to bring two other persons with him, who are confident. He shared the plan of Neeraj with Salim who brought Parvez (brother in law of his younger brother).

On June 15, he along with Salim and Parvez had gone to Noida in the Hyundai Verna car of Parvez and met with Neeraj. Thereafter they again met with Neeraj on the next day as per their plan in Noida. They made a plan to impersonate themselves as vigilance officer and collect money from gas delivery boys.

As per their plan, all the four (Abid, Salim, Parvez and Neeraj) reached near Alsifa Hospital at Shaheen Bagh and noticed one gas delivery van parked there. Neeraj went to the delivery boys and introduced himself as vigilance officer. He threatened them of taking legal actions against them for their malpractices.

Parvez started making a video of the delivery boys, Abid and Salim removed two cylinders from the delivery van and Rs 3,000 cash with slips from were also robbed from the pocket of complainant Umesh. Other two accused Salim and Neeraj are absconding. Their search is being conducted. Investigation of the case is in progress.
